Mourinho Feels He Has ‘Unfinished’ Business at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho Available Once Again

Legendary manager Mourinho has sent shockwaves around the footballing world, with sources close to the coach revealing his desire to return to Old Trafford. According to Keegan, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss feels his job is not done at United, and he wants to return to the club as a manager to right his wrongs from the first time around. However, the journalist also mentioned that the possibility of him returning is not very high at this time. The situation might change if current boss Erik ten Hag comes under pressure due to the team’s poor on-field performances.

The Portuguese is currently available on the market after being sacked by Italian side Roma. The decision came as a shock to many fans after the master tactician led them to the UEFA Europa League final. They missed out – on the trophy after narrowly losing to Sevilla in the final on penalties. According to the report, the change in upper management at the Premier League giants is a huge reason for his willingness and desire to return. INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking over the footballing operations is a proposition the 61-year-old finds very lucrative.

Mourinho’s Time at Manchester United

In the summer of 2016, Mourinho was announced as the new boss of the Red Devils after Louis van Gaal’s reign ended. The veteran manager enjoyed a fantastic first season, guiding his team to Europa League and Carabao Cup glory. In his second season, the 20-time-Premier League champions finished second in the league, an achievement Mourinho describes as one of his biggest.

The astute tactician eventually faced the axe in December 2018 after a poor start to the season. It is widely reported that the former Porto manager had a falling out with the leadership at the Manchester-based club, which eventually led to his dismissal. Now, with new management and leadership, it remains to be seen if the English club entertain the idea of a return for their former manager in the future. At the moment, the prospect remains unlikely.
