Midfielder Bryan Cristante doesn’t hide that Roma had come to the San Siro in the hopes of securing a point against Inter Milan.

The Italian international spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInter1908. He admitted that the Nerazzurri are on another level from the Giallorossi.

Inter managed to get a 1-0 victory to keep their Serie A title charge on course.

The three points were enough for the Nerazzurri, who’ll have had few complaints.

It did look for a long time, however, like Roma might be able to frustrate Inter.

The Giallorossi held out until after the eightieth minute of the match.

It was not as though Inter didn’t have some presentable chances to take the lead. But the finishing wasn’t there from the Nerazzurri players, whilst the Roma defenders put their bodies on the line.

In the end, a solitary goal from Marcus Thuram was enough to ensure that Inter took all three points.

This was reward for dominance of possession and creating by far more and better chances.

But had Roma managed to keep holding out, midfielder Cristante admits that they would have gotten what they came for from the San Siro.

Bryan Cristante Admits Roma Played For A Draw Vs Inter

“We arrived here short on energy,” Cristante said after the match.

“Coming after so many other matches.”

“We had prepared to hit them on the counter,: he went on.

“We would have been happy to go home with a point,” Cristante admitted.

“They’re a strong team with a deep squad,” the 28-year-old said of the Nerazzurri. “We’re a bit short on the other hand.”

“We didn’t have the physical energy to push up and press high.”

“We conceded a goal that could have been avoided,” the Roma midfielder then rued.

“Once we conceded that, it was difficult to try and get back in it.”

“Inter have a large squad and can manage player fitness,” Cristante also said. “I think they’re on another level from the rest of Serie A.”

Lastly, the Roma midfielder gave his thoughts on his teammate Romelu Lukaku’s return to the San Siro.

“I think he knew how it would be,” he said. “He wasn’t bothered by it.”
