The Tennessee Titans had a disappointing end to their 2021 season.

Despite owning the AFC’s top seed, they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals at home during the Divisional Weekend even if they had nine sacks on quarterback Joe Burrow.

Out of that number, 1.5 were by weak side linebacker Harold Landry III.

The 25-year-old player from Boston College has been a bright spot in Tennessee’s defense, especially when the unit had to step up after Derrick Henry got sidelined by a foot injury.

After seeing his contributions to the team, the Titans’ top brass felt that it’s just right to have him much longer, as NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported.

Pelissero tweeted, “The #Titans are signing OLB Harold Landry to a five-year, $87.5 million extension with $52.5 guaranteed, per sources.”

The deal gives Landry an average annual value of $17.5 million.

Landry has been a steady contributor for the Titans throughout his first four seasons.

He had 44 total tackles, two passes defended, and 4.5 sacks in his rookie year.

The defensive ace had nine sacks and 68 tackles in year two.

Last season, Landry had his best year as a pro (so far) with 75 tackles, 12 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Aside from performing well every time he takes the field, he’s also a model of endurance after missing just one game in four seasons.

Titans Defense Looks Scary

Aside from Landry, the Titans have other players who can bring pressure upon opposing quarterbacks.

Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons can be a disruptive force in the trenches while Denico Autry was his partner in bringing pain from the edges.

Tennessee also has Bud Dupree and Kevin Byard, who leads their secondary.

The Titans may be known as a punishing run-first team because of Henry.

However, they also know how to protect leads thanks to their solid defensive unit.
