Philadelphia Eagles Defender Reinstated By NFL After Punishment
Jenna Watson/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The NFL is reinstating a Philadelphia Eagles cornerback following his suspension related to gambling. In the previous week, the league reinstated several players who were suspended in relation to gambling, including Washington Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney.

The Commanders released Toney this week after the NFL reinstated him on Friday. Other players suspended last year had been cut by their respective teams, including cornerback Isaiah Rodgers.

Isaiah Rodgers was suspended last year

Rodgers was caught with bets on his gambling account that were placed on the Indianapolis Colts. Per GH media, the Colts released him:

The NFL then launched an investigation after they confirmed his activity. Following his release from Indiana, Isaiah Rodgers said on social media that he had accepted “full responsibility” for his actions and that he had disappointed his loved ones.

“Addressing the current reports, I want to take full responsibility for my actions,” wrote Rodgers. “I know I have made mistakes, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to repair the situation. The last thing I ever wanted to do was be a distraction to the Colts organization, my coaches, and my teammates. I’ve let people down that I care about.”

The Eagles took a chance on Rodgers by signing him and placing him on the reserve/suspended list. He stayed on the list through the 2023 season.

According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the league reinstated Rodgers. He’s free to join the team for offseason workouts.

At 26, Rodgers has started in 10 games and appeared in 45. He has one kick return for a touchdown, 90 tackles, one forced fumble, ten passes defensed, and three interceptions.

The Colts drafted Rodgers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
