Eagles' Jason Kelce opens up about Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift relationship

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce opened up about the relationship between Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, Jason's brother, and entertainment superstar Taylor Swift who seemingly generates NFL-related headlines on a weekly basis.

"It’s certainly been weird, the level that it is now," Jason Kelce said during a chat with NBC Sports' Peter King about the situation following Kansas City's 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday that improved the Chiefs to 6-1 on the season. "On one hand, I’m happy for my brother that he seems to be in a relationship that he’s excited about, that he is genuine about. But there’s another end of it where it’s like, 'Man, this is a lot.' There’s paparazzi talking about him fueling his car before the game today and I’m like, 'Is that really necessary information to share?' This is another level of stardom that typically football players don’t deal with."

Travis Kelce insisted earlier this month that spending time with Swift and being a focus of reporters across multiple entertainment genres wouldn't distract the future Hall of Famer or the Chiefs. Following Sunday's action, the numbers indicate Swift's presence is bolstering the defending Super Bowl champions this fall.

According to Kevin Patra of the NFL's website, the Chiefs won all four games that Swift has thus far attended this season and averaged 28.5 points across those contests. Travis Kelce averaged 108.0 receiving yards per game with Swift watching the action in person compared to his 46.5 receiving yards per contest across games Swift didn't attend. The Chiefs' only loss of the campaign occurred in Week 1 when Swift wasn't at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and are averaging 21.3 points per game without her in attendance.

Meanwhile, Travis Kelce recorded 12 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers as Swift cheered him and the hosts on from a suite. Such successes, aside, Jason Kelce sounds happy to not be dealing with the buzz that comes with spending time with one of the most famous individuals on the planet.

"And so on one hand, really, really happy for my brother and where he’s at in his current situation with Taylor but on the other hand, there’s some, I think, alarms sometimes with how you know, over-in-pursuit people can be," Jason continued. "Overall, he can deal with some of this. As long as it’s not, you know, becoming a threat to his safety and things like that."

The Chiefs next play at the 2-5 Denver Broncos this coming Sunday. As of late Monday morning, OddsChecker listed Kansas City as a seven-and-a-half-point favorite for that matchup.
