Andy Reid out of the hospital, expected to rejoin Chiefs this week

Kansas City Chief head coach Andy Reid is out of the hospital and expected to rejoin the team at some point this week, ESPN reported Monday morning.

Reid, 63, was taken to the hospital after Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. According to ESPN, Reid addressed the players like he normally does after games before departing Arrowhead Stadium in an ambulance. Per the report, at least one player had no clue anything was wrong with the veteran coach.

The team didn't specify in its social media statement what was ailing Reid, only that he wasn't feeling well.

A source later told ESPN Reid was treated for dehydration upon arriving at the hospital.

Sunday was an all-around tough day for the Chiefs, which sputtered in the fourth quarter and fell 30-24 to the Chargers. Although currently sitting at 1-2 on the season, quarterback Patrick Mahomes insists his team is built to learn from the adversity and turn things around.

"Whenever you lose a game at home to a divisional opponent, it isn't a good thing," Mahomes said. "We haven't had a lot of that in my time here, but it's about how you respond. We have a long season ahead of us. It looks really dim right now, but if we can find a way to get better from this and learn how to win these types of games, we'll be where we want to be at the end of the season."
