Former Nebraska QB Jeff Sims confirms transfer to ASU
Dylan Widger-USA TODAY Sports

After reports first came out that Nebraska quarterback Jeff Sims was expected to transfer to ASU, he confirmed the move on X (formerly Twitter).

In a post, he said “Blessed” with the popular #ForksUp and had a commitment graphic showing him wearing Sun Devil gear in front of Arizona State fans.

With the transfer of Jaden Rashada to Georgia, Sims will now join the Sun Devils. Senior Trenton Bourguet and Michigan State transfer Sam Leavitt are the other quarterbacks who will challenge Sims for the starting role heading into next season.

Transferring schools is not new to Sims as he spent last year at Nebraska after three seasons (2020-22) at Georgia Tech. At Georgia Tech, the Florida native passed for 4,464 yards, 30 touchdowns and 23 interceptions through 24 games (23 starts).

In five games (two starts) with the Cornhuskers this past season, the 22-year-old completed 28-of-47 passes (59.6%) for 282 yards and threw a touchdown.

Sims is yet another addition to coach Kenny Dillingham’s squad as they look to bounce back after finishing 2-9 in the Pac-12 and 3-9 overall last year. On Thursday, RB Alton McCaskill IV transferred from Colorado State. ASU also locked up the huge commitment of Arizona’s No. 1 high school safety, Mountain Pointe’s Rylon Dillard-Allen.
